Why train your dog?

As a rescue volunteer, I see far too many good dogs end up homeless because they simply do not understand what their owners want them to do. Training helps owners communicate with their dogs better to prevent or correct unwanted behaviors, cultivate desirable behaviors, and strengthen the bond between human and canine.

Dog training is good for humans, too. Fresh air, sunshine, and quality time with your best friend are good for your physical and mental health. Even if you just spend 15 or 20 minutes a day working with your dog, you’re likely to see improvements in both the dog’s behavior and your own outlook.

Ready to take the next step? Hit the Obedience Lessons link to enroll in my next group class, or contact me to discuss your options for one-on-one training. I offer two to four group classes per year in Tucumcari, New Mexico and am adding a class in Santa Rosa in October 2022.

If you’re too far away to attend, I’m available for consultation via email or Zoom. I can’t train your dog remotely, but I can recommend resources and help you figure out the pros and cons of each training approach so you can find one that fits you and your best friend.

I also have a glossary to help you wade through all the jargon and a list of resources you may find helpful as you explore your options.
